No Snowboarding? Aint that something...

Written by Pat Milbery
Colorado Skier visits up! Awesome, what about snowboarders? How did we do?  More revenue for our tourist based economy and longer lift lines once again. Huh, well at least people love this great state and feel the same desire to live it up and play in the Rocky Mountains.  So I read this article today about the business of our Snow Industry. Our industry is NOT simply comprised of skiers.  Snowboarding isn't even discussed in these statistics, wtf?  I could guess that Snowboarding makes up for a large percentage of visits.  Don't you think these census tally people, whoever they are, could AT LEAST mention us and our contributions as snowboarders... May seem like I am crying wolf here, but come on, wake up and stay current with the times.  We don't carry poles, but we definetely do share the same slopes and as the media refers to it as "skiing conditions."  Not a peep about riding, or shredding??? I support traditional methods of society, yet the frustration of traditional thinking gets old, boring and ages like the smell of my worn out snowboard boots after a long season of increased skier visits.

Backyard Bang , Backyard Snowboard Park.

Written by PARTYPANTS
As Colorado takes a sharp turn from winter to summer, the snow melts away and reveals almost a whole new world. For most people this is a good thing, but for snowboarders it means the loss of a sport, passion, hobby, or whatever you classify snowboarding as. Luckily for us, there still is hope right in Southwest Denver. Located on the corner of Federal and Dartmouth you’ll find one of the kindest families in Colorado, which have provided a backyard snowboard park, hospitality, and support for various snowboarders throughout the state.

On tap this week is more International exposure from your pals at so gnar.  The receptor monster, barcode monster and the so gnar submarine score their VERY 1ST MAGAZINE COVER!!! Last summer, PLEASURE MAGAZINE, a German based porn mag selected a cover photo of Scott Stevens and Pat Milbery loungin on the Zumiez Couch while the east coast bloody celtic Chris Beresford aired over them.  The Think Thank posse takes this one. We are joking about Pleasure magazine being a porn mag, in actuality it is one of our favorite snowboard publications worldwide.  Great peeps running it and awesome content within the pages.  Thanks to Jami @ Zumiez for the couch, isn't that thing supposed to be on a skate tour right now? And thanks to TAS from Pleasure for traveling all the way over to the United States to capture the coverage here.. If you can get your hands on the issue, Milbery has another sequence from a session featured as a spread as well.  SO GNAR Global Takeover continues...

Gosh Darn Gusher

Written by Pat Milbery
I live in a city that is roughly 5,280 feet above the sea. This city is Denver, Colorado.  Directly southeast of the city I presently reside in is the state of Florida.  There is a epidemic going on right now that is going be effecting the entire world forever.  Deep below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, about the same distance as the height of Denver, Colorado there is a situation that is so gnarly that I have a difficult time even typing about it. Once again the topic is oil. That topic sure does play a constant role in our world of media happenings and politic disputes.  The multi billion dollar, I believe roughly 25 billion dollar company BP (British Petroleum) has a hole in a pipe that is gushing oil at overwhelming high rate.  It is completely unknown how much oil has been released into the ocean, but rough guesstimates range anywhere from 5 millions to 125 million gallons...

Walrus has arrived!

Written by Captain Safety
It's time to add yet another monster to the mix. Welcome Walrus.  Keep your eye out for him in your city.  Global takeover is near.
Here's a pretty gnarly, incredible, awesome, smexxy (sexy), photo of a Korean warship getting hoisted out to sea by some very, very large chains holding it while one crane hoists this giant war-ship to sea. The question is how big are are the chains in real life?

NYC installs new "cool" street art

Written by Captain Safety

New York City just introduced some new "cool" street art.  Not sure what my thoughts are on this new initiative, but its great to see American cities implementing street art of some kind.  This initiative centers around the addition of blue gradients that help to lower the temperature with the blue images.  The project is called "Cool Water Hot Island," which refers to the fact that urban cities are usually hotter than non-urban areas.  The blue color of the designs will help to reflect the suns light.  This project will go on for an 18 month period as part of "Green Light for Midtown."  It is all a part of Manhattan's first stage in renovating Times Square...
